UPDATE: Death toll in Lagos early morning accident now 16 (PHOTOS)

A total of 16 people have been confirmed killed in an accident that occurred at Alaro City, Epe, Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)  Bisi Kazeem, confirmed to Franktalknow that nine people got burnt beyond recognition while seven others were killed.

Franktalknow gathered that the accident which involved a Toyota and a truck occurred at about 3 am due to a diversion close to a construction site.

He said that a total of 23 people were involved in the accident, with two of them escaping without injury. Five others sustained injuries and have been moved to a general hospital.

The FRSC said that efforts are still on to clear the obstructions for vehicular movement.
