UPDATED: Buhari asks ministers to remain in office till May 29

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked his ministers to remain in office till the last day of his administration.

Buhari will hand over to President-elect Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.

Speaking with reporters after the Federal Executive meeting on Wednesday, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, said all ministers had been directed by President Buhari to return to their office and continue with their duties.

Mohammed said, “the news that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved is not correct. We have been directed by the President that we should all go back and return to our offices. So, it is not true that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved, it is still very much alive. We have all been directed to go back to our offices and I’m sure that we’re going to work up till 29th of May.”

It was earlier reported that President  Buhari was concluding his administrative tasks as his presidency winds up ahead of May 29 inauguration of the new president.

He conducted a valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesdays May 24, 2023.

At the end of the meeting, it was expected that the cabinet might be dissolved.

However, the President did not dissolve the cabinet.

At the meeting, the President  conducted the swearing-in ceremony for seven Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Fiscal, and Allocation Commission (RMFC).
