VIDEO: Help Us, Helpless Gateway Polytechnic Student Begs Government Amid Attacks

A student of the Gateway Polytechnic,  Saapade, Ogun State, has appealed to the government for assistance, citing ongoing attacks by armed individuals believed to be robbers and cultists.

The student posted a video on his TikTok account on Saturday, expressing deep concerns about the  criminal activities in the area.

In the video, he implored the government to intervene, emphasising that the environment around the polytechnic is plagued by crimes, including rape, murder, theft, and kidnappings targeted at students.

He lamented the  lack of action by local authorities, including kings and the state governor. The student shared a tragic personal experience, revealing the loss of his best friend, Makinde Oluwapelumi Ayomide, who he said wqs fatally shot in the head on  December 2, 2023.

Expressing grief and frustration, he questioned why students were being  targeted and called for urgent government’s intervention.

In his plea, the student urged the government to address the escalating violence, emphasising the need for immediate action to protect the lives of students of the polytechnic.

In the video, he was heard saying in part, “Good morning everybody. I am a student of Gateway Polytechnic ICT Sapaade, Ogun state.

“There is this thing going on in that school, please government it’s like you guys are not seeing it at all, they are killing us. They shot my friend in the head this morning, he is confirmed dead.

“The school is not even doing anything about it all, this is getting too much. I talked with my friend, 12 am today, I was asleep when I got a call, they told me my friend was shot in the head and was confirmed dead at 3am this morning. The school authorities are not doing anything about it. Government, please help the student.”
