President Muhammadu Buhari departed from Aso Rock on Saturday evening, ending his eight-year tenure as the president of Nigeria.
Buhari, 80, was sworn in as president in May 2015 after defeating incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. He was re-elected in 2019.

During his time in office, Buhari faced a number of challenges, including the Boko Haram insurgency, the Niger Delta crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Buhari’s departure from Aso Rock marks the end of an era in Nigerian politics. He is the first Nigerian president to serve two terms in office since Olusegun Obasanjo.
