Donald Trump is spending his first day returning to life as a private citizen on his West Palm Beach club golf course as Nancy Pelosi celebrates his departure from Washington.

The former president’s favourite pastime is golf, and he often spent his vacations away from the White House on his courses whether in Florida, New Jersey or some other Trump-brand club around the world.

As Trump hit the links, House Speaker Pelosi held a press briefing where she thanked the Lord that he was gone while underscoring the importance of moving forward with impeachment against him.

‘The president of the United States committed an act of incitement of insurrection,’ Pelosi said during her weekly briefing. ‘I don’t think it’s very unifying to say, oh, let’s just forget it and move on. That’s not how you unify.’

‘Just because he’s now gone — thank God — you don’t say to a president, ‘Do whatever you want in the last months of your administration. You’re going to get a get-out-of-jail card free’ because people think you should make nice, nice, and forget that people died here on January 6,’ she told reporters.

Pelosi and House Democrats are preparing to deliver the article of impeachment against Trump to the Senate ‘soon.’

After the article for ‘incitement of insurrection’ is sent to the upper chamber, the second impeachment trial against the former president will commence.

Pelosi could deliver that article to the senate as soon as Friday, according to lawmakers and aides, which would set up a trial to start the next day in a weekend Senate session.

‘They’ve now informed us they’re ready to receive,’ Pelosi told reporters of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as the two work toward a power-sharing agreement in a 50-50 split Senate.

She also said there are ‘other questions about how a trial will proceed.’

‘I’m not going to be telling you when it was going,’ Pelosi added.
