Gunmen have attacked Okporo and other neighbouring communities of the Orlu Local Government in Imo State, Vanguard reports.
According to residents of the state, nocturnal attacks are being perpetrated by criminal gangs and native doctors.
In the attack, an unidentified community leader was reportedly beheaded and his head was placed on a table around the market in the Okporo community.

The number of beheaded persons in the Orlu area has increased to about five since this violence started. There have been reports of arsons as well, with vehicles and shops razed to the ground.
Although security agencies are yet to react to the violence, the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mike Abatam, the police had earlier cordoned the forest of Njaba to checkmate the activities of the hoodlums.
