The six South-West states have indicated their readiness to allow their pupils to participate in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination despite the Federal Government’s position that Nigeria would not be participating in the regional examination. The state governments have also said their pupils would sit for the exam.

The state governments namely Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Osun states took the decision after a virtual meeting on Tuesday. The meeting was initiated by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria, also known as DAWN Commission in collaboration with the forum of South West commissioners for education, special advisers on education and the state Universal Basic Education Board chairmen.
