The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari was in the southeast state on a working visit.
Frank Talk Now reports that the governor stated this while dismissing insinuation that Buhari’s visit to Imo State was connected to the 2023 general election.
Uzodinma said the president’s visit has nothing to do with the 2023 elections as he was simply on a working visit.
He stated that Buhari commissioned projects and met with stakeholders to have an interaction.

“Our people came out to receive the president who visited Imo State in solidarity with the governor of Imo State. It has nothing to do with the 2023 election or politics,” Uzodinma told Channels Television.
“We only received the president who came on a working visit, commissioned projects and had an interaction with us.”
Meanwhile, Uzodinma has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is not looking for an Igbo president in 2023.

The Imo state governor dismissed reports that the ruling party is working to zone the 2023 presidential election ticket to the southeast zone.
Speaking on Friday, Uzodinma disclosed that the APC is locking for a president that would be for all Nigerians.
The governor was responding to questions on if the APC would give its ticket to the southeast region as many people for the zone are clamouring for.
“We are not looking for an Igbo President. We are looking for a President of Nigeria,” Uzodinma said.
“We as a party APC believe what we are practicing here is partisan democracy and every politician must be loyal to his party.
“At the end of the day it is the decision of the party that you belong to that will matter.”
