5 Food-related Guinness World Records you can attempt to break
On Monday the 15th of May, 2023, Hilda Baci successfully broke the world record for the longest cooking hours by an individual with an unbelievable 100+ hours beating the former record of 87 hours and 45 minutes held by Indian chef, Lata Tondon.
This in itself was no small feat as it meant constantly standing and cooking with barely any rest or sleep for 4 days straight!
I don’t many of us have the tenacity it takes to replicate or beat this record. This is why we have compiled a list of other food-related Guinness World Records you can attempt to break without losing your sleep or standing for hours and hours.

1. Fastest time to eat a burrito
The fastest time to eat a burrito is 31.47 sec and was achieved by Miki Sudo (USA) in Tampa, Florida, USA, on 22 October 2022.
Shawarma is the burrito’s close cousin so you definitely can try this one out.
2. Biggest hot dog
Would you be able to eat a hot dog weighing more than 3 kg? That’s the weight of the hot dog that holds the record for being the heaviest in the world. And it has held it since 2011.
There are 2 records to break here it seems. You can either make a hotdog that is heavier than 3.18kg and then you can attempt to eat it all… at your own risk though.
3. Eating more hot chilies in less time
Some people like it hot, and then there is Gregory Foster. This American broke the record for eating the most Carolina Reaper chilies – the hottest in the world – in the shortest time. In total, he managed to gobble up 10 chilies in just 33.15 seconds. I’m sure he needed a lot of water when he finished.
The chilies look a lot like our local Bawa though. This is not an out-of-reach record to break. If you are someone with a high pepper and pain tolerance, I think this is just the one for you!
4. Most M&M’s stacked
The tallest stack of M&M’s® is 7 and was achieved by Ibrahim Sadeq (Iraq) in Nasiriyha, Iraq, on 7 April 2022.

Guinness World Records posted a video of the achievement on Instagram — and with seven candies, it looks really difficult. Sadeq wears special finger gloves and needs plenty of effort to steady the final stack.
He’s also an accomplished stacker in general: Sadeq is co-holder of the world record for Most Balanced Eggs on the Back of the Hand. (It’s 18 eggs.)
It may require a lot of patience and trial and error but fear not. Between 2021 and now, this record has been broken 3 times. It was first set by Silvio Sabba in December 2016 when he stacked 4 of the chocolate candies. The deceptively difficult stack-of-four record held up until January 31, 2021.
On that day, Will Cutbill, 23, gave it a try in June 2021, he stacked 5 of the candies.
And yet, Cutbill’s glory was short-lived: On 14 October, Brendan Kelbie balanced six M&M’s at his home in Queensland, Australia.

Little did Kelbie know that he was simply setting the stage for Sadeq. Though it took Kelbie nearly ten months to topple Cutbill, less than six months later, the record was broken again.

5. Snoop Dogg’s Giant Gin & Juice
We all have that one friend with a passion for cocktails… or perhaps we are the friend. Whichever is the case, this record will be interesting for you.
At the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival which took place in California in 2018, Snoop Dogg, along with chef Michael Voltaggio and three other rappers, set out to break the record for making the world’s largest cocktail paradise. And boy, did they succeed.
They used 180 1.75-litre bottles of gin, 156 1-litre bottles of apricot brandy and 28 3.78-litre jugs of orange juice. And they mixed it all in front of more than 8,000 people who wanted to taste it.
Although it was reserved only for a lucky few in the VIP area.
This record can’t be too hard to break once you have the means to purchase all that gin, brandy and orange juice. Oh and an obscenely large glass!
