Abducted Nasarawa APC Chairman Found Dead, Buhari Reacts

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State, Phillip Shekwo, has been found dead.

Armed men had abducted Shekwo from his residence in Lafia on Saturday night.

The Police had said they were combing forests and flashpoints to rescue the APC Chairman until he was found dead on Sunday.

Spokesman for  the Nasarawa police command, Sunday Raman Nansel, on Sunday said the APC leader had been killed.

He said, “We discovered his corpse today and it has been taken to the morgue for post Mortem examination. Investigation has begun. We are determined to unravel the cause of the incident.”

Reacting on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari deplored the killing , saying the nation’s security system must do more to end the incidents of violence in the country.

The late APC chairman was reportedly shot twice leading to his death. Police investigation is expected to determine if this was an assassination or kidnapping-related murder.

President Buhari, while commiserating with the family of the deceased, said: “I strongly condemn the killing of Philip Shekwo.

“He was kind and jovial. His contribution towards strengthening the party in Nasarawa State will not be forgotten. May his soul Rest in Peace.”
