The airline stated that it had no hand in the petition that led to Ajaero’s detention and called for his release.

In a statement signed by the airline’s spokesperson, Omotade Makinwa, Air Peace expressed deep concern over recent media reports regarding Ajaero’s arrest in connection to a petition filed by the airline in September 2023.

The statement clarified that the petition was submitted over a year ago, and the airline had already reached an amicable resolution with the NLC, withdrawing its petition.

“The Nigerian Police have chosen to act on the original petition, which has now led to the alleged arrest of the NLC president,” Makinwa said. “Before this arrest, the airline and the NLC had already reached an amicable resolution, and Air Peace had withdrawn its petition, allowing a positive working relationship to resume between the two organisations.”

Air Peace also noted that the report had created negative publicity for the airline and stressed that it was not involved in Ajaero’s arrest. The airline called for Ajaero’s release and emphasized its commitment to maintaining a positive working relationship with the NLC.
