Gunmen on Monday night reportedly attacked St Albert the Great Institute of Philosophy, a Catholic-run seminary in Fayit community in Kagoma Chiefdom, Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

NewsWireNGR reports that the criminals invaded the school at about 8 pm and began shooting randomly, causing pandemonium.

The online news outlet said a source stated that the operation lasted for over an hour before local hunters and vigilante intervened and “chased the terrorists away.”

The number of students abducted could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report as efforts to speak to authorities in the school for comments proved abortive.

Mr Muhammad Jalige, the Kaduna Police Command spokesman, confirmed the incident and said Tactical Commanders were currently at the school to confirm the number of students kidnapped and how the incident happened.

According to AF24NEWS, the Police Spokesman said the incident had occurred last night, but the police are yet to receive a situation report.

“Yes, there was an incident yesterday but we’re still waiting for a situation report from our men. The place is around 300km from Kaduna town, but we have Tactical Commanders currently on the school premises, liaising with the school management to know the exact number of students kidnapped and how it happened,” Jalige said.

The police spokesman said their personnel had initially repelled the attack last night at the school.

“Our men were actually at the school last night after there was an attempt to attack the school. The attempt was repelled and some of the students returned to the school for safety. But probably in the morning, the school realised some students were missing,” he said.
