One person was killed and eight injured when a car drove into a group of people in central Berlin on Wednesday.
This is according to the fire service statement posted by Agence France Presse.
A police spokeswoman said the driver was detained at the scene after the car plunged into a shopfront along the busy shopping street Tauentzienstrasse.
It was not clear whether the crash was an intentional attack or completely accidental.
