Former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday attended the Council of State meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja even as former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, was notably absent.
This is the first time President Bola Tinubu is presiding over the council of state meeting since his administration came to power. The meeting was held at the Presiodential Villa, Abuja. Former Presidents Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar participated virtually.
The Council, which advises the President on major policy decisions, also comprises the Vice President, Senate President, and other top officials.
The session comes just days after widespread protests against economic hardship and the removal of fuel subsidies.
The meeting was reportedly summoned by the President to address pressing national issues.
