Collapsed bridge: FRSC issues advisory to motorists

The Federal Road Safety Corps has issued a road advisory to motorists and diverted traffic along Enugu–Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Expressway following the collapse of a Flyover Bridge on the road.

 

One of the flyover bridges across the Enugu–Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Expressway collapsed on Monday morning.

The incident happened at the kilometre-one section of the expressway between Naira Triangle and the New Artisan Market axis of Enugu.

Issuing advisory to motorists, the Corps Spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem said, “Motorists coming from Portharcourt/Aba to Abakiliki are advised to pass through bricks at new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point)-Okpara Square to New Haven junction by Otigba Roundabout, through Ogui Roundabout-Abakpa junction (82 Division) and proceed to Abakiliki.

 

“On the other hand, motorists from Abuja/Abakiliki going to Aba/Portharcourt are advised to take Abakpa Junction (82 Division) – New Haven junction by Otigba Roundabout, through Ogui Roundabout to Okpara Square and proceed to Enugu/Portharcourt dual carriageway, new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point) and continue to Aba/PH.

 

“Pursuant to the need to ensure that motorists are not caught up in avoidable traffic gridlock, the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, admonishes drivers of all categories of vehicles using that route to adhere to the aforementioned  alternative roads and maintain all road traffic rules and regulations for safe arrival.”
