Nasarawa State government has started fumigating its schools ahead of resumption, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Fati Sabo, has said.
Briefing journalists in Lafia, the state capital on Wednesday, Sabo said the ministry of education was working with the ministries of health and environment and natural resources to ensure that the schools are safe for the students to prevent further spread of the COVID-19.
She explained that the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources would handle fumigation while the Ministry of Health would train teachers on the use of thermometers.

According to her, commissioners of education from the 36 states in a meeting with the Minister of Education have agreed to reopen schools from Aug. 4.

Although the state is yet to announce the date for reopening of schools, the commissioner said that the ministry would provide face masks to both students and teachers as well as hand sanitiser and ensure that physical distancing protocols were enforced in the schools.
