Super Eagles interim manager, Augustin Eguavoen admitted on Saturday evening that his players are not converting their chances to goals despite scoring three goals against The Falcons of Sudan.

Villareal winger, Samuel Chkwueze rediscovered his scoring mojo by putting the Super Eagles on the driver’s seat in three minutes into the match while Taiwo Awoniyi double the lead in the 45th minute.

Man of the match, Moses Simon put the game to bed one minute later, but Eguavoen insisted his strikers are not clinical enough.

” I strongly believe we are strong enough to go all the way in the tournament, but scoring goals has been a big problem. We are not clinical in front of the goal.

Against Egypt, we missed a couple of sitters, and that is what gave Sudan the confidence to come out and get a goal. They actually posed a threat,” Eguavoen told 234sportsng.com

He then promised to keep working round the clock to ensure the team plays to its strength as the competition progresses while calling on Nigerians to rally behind the players as Nigeria qualified for the knockouts stage of this year’s AFCON with a match to spare.

Commenting on the strength of his bench, Eguavoen believes the Super Eagles are blessed with an embarrassment of talents that is capable of propelling the team to success in the competition.

” I think we have enough talents on our bench that are capable of taking this team to the finals.”
