ESUT Promotes 42 Lecturers to Professors, Associate Professors

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), has promoted 11 of its lecturers from the rank of associate professors to the rank of professors, the institution’s vice chancellor, Prof Charles Eze, has revealed.

Speaking in Enugu during a programme tagged: “Celebration of Excellent Leadership,” organised by the MSc and PhD students of the university’s Institute for Peace, Conflict and Development Studies in honour of its Director, Felix Asogwa, the vice chancellor said that 31 other lecturers were also promoted to the position of associate professors.

He said that the newly-promoted lecturers were long overdue for their promotions, noting that many ought to have promoted since 2015, 2016, 2017. He said denying people promotion they were due for was capable of adversely affecting their productivity.

He said, “I found myself as a willing tool to do the needful and give them what they merited and deserve and today, the beneficiaries are happy for it.”

The acting vice chancellor was conferred with the award of “Pragmatic and Excellent Leadership.’’ The VC said the institute would continue to play its role of tackling conflicts in parts of the country via its products, calling on everyone to always give the management the necessary support.

Asogwa thanked the organisers for organising the ceremony in his honour, in spite of the challenges posed by COVID-19, noting that no nation could make any meaningful headway or development in an atmosphere of crisis. He said people should ensure that peace remains paramount in all that they do.
