Families of Owo mass shooting victims seek succour on Twitter

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to mourn their loved ones following the gory mass shooting inside St. Francis Catholic Church on Sunday in Owo, Ondo State, Nigeria, where at least 28 people were killed with the state’s governor, Rotimi Akeredolu describing the incident as” a vile and satanic calculated attack.”
A lady, Lai Ajanaku, who lost both parents in the incident, described the terrorist attack as “the audacity of Nigeria to take my parents from me.”
“I will always hate this country!!!!! It’s a promise.” She added in a  tweet.
Others who spoke about the couple described them as loving and accommodating.
Steve Cassidy in a heartrending comment, said, “They were nice, caring and lovely parents. He was my vice principal during my days at Imade College Owo.”
Steve was also a classmate of the son of the deceased administrator.
Making further comments, Steve said: “… his son Femi was my classmate and a very good friend. I could remember when we went for UNIMED post utme, he accommodated us, fed us, and drove us to Ondo park himself.”
Another man who wants to be simply identified as Uchenna tweeted that he lost three family members.
When our correspondent reached out to him,  Uchenna disclosed that his aunt, whose name he wanted to keep private, and her two kids were killed in the shootings.

“I’m just shattered,” began Uchenna. “That was my aunt with two kids,” he managed to say, out of pain.
Narrating how her aunt, identified as Iya Mary, was killed at St. Francis Church, Tioluwanimi Beulah said that the terrorists waited for the congregation to close from mass before unleashing their onslaught on the unarmed innocent worshippers.
Heartbroken and terribly agonized, Tioluwanimi said: “I lost a family member to the massacre in Owo.”
According to her, the husband and kids of her aunt didn’t go to church, so only she was killed. In her account, she alleged that the priest was kidnapped.
“I just saw the video of her lying in cold blood. Her husband and child didn’t go to church.  Iye Meri, rest in peace.
“They waited for them to almost end Mass and began firing at them. They couldn’t even spare children and they kidnapped the priest as well.”
Meanwhile, a toddler has been said to have been found beside his dead mum at the Owo massacre in Ondo State and locals are trying to locate his relatives.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says 11 children and 22 adults are on admission at the emergency wards of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Matteo Bruni, director, of the Vatican press office, the pope said the congregants were “painfully affected”.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said the perpetrators of the gruesome murder of parishioners at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, will be fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He said this when he visited Owo town and the Catholic Church to commiserate with the clergy, community, and people of the State, a statement signed by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande, said.
