Ikoyi building collapse: More bodies recovered

More bodies have been recovered from the site of the collapsed 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos.
While the Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said one more body   was recovered on Saturday, the National Emergency Management Agency said additional two male bodies were recovered on Saturday.
This was after the State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had declared 42 dead. 
While Lagos State figure has brought the number of bodies retrieved from the rubble to 43, NEMA’s figure is 44.

NEMA’s Acting Head in Lagos, Ibrahim Farinloye said one body was recovered at about 22000hours and the other before 0000hours.
Omotoso said there are 15 survivors while 49 persons have reported that their loved ones are missing.
 He said identification was still on  at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba.
   ” Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, once again, commiserates with the families of those who died in the incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, NEMA said the FG had earlier directed the Army Corp of Engineers to assist in the rescue operation.
The Head of Army Corp Of Engineers, Brigadier General Omali on arrival was  said to have been received by the NEMA who introduced the Team to Lagos State Commissioners of Special Duties and Physical Planning.
“The Corps Engineers’ team explained that a directive from Abuja directed the Engineers to deploy equipment to assist in carting away the rubble.
“The Commissioner of Special Duties in response inform the Team that the work is almost over and what are on ground are enough to complete the work left,” NEMA added.
