Judicial Service Commission swears in 17 new magistrates in Lagos

The Chief Justice of Lagos and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, Kazeem Alogba, has  sworn in  17 newly appointed magistrates in the state.

The Lagos state government revealed this in a statement released on Sunday via its official Twitter account.

 Alogba urged the new magistrates to be courageous and to limit their social circles in order to carry out the task entrusted to them by God and man.

He said the appointments were in recognition of their impressive track record and urged them to view the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy as a guide in carrying out their official responsibilities, while not losing awareness of their reputation and respect for their families.

“In the course of your duties, you will be approached by families, relatives and friends who will want to ask you one favor or another. But you have to be aware that you have to be fair in what you do, no matter what the horned ox is.

“I will advise you not to run away from them or disrespect them, but to apply the fear of God and wisdom in your dealings with them.

“The oath of office and the oath of secrecy should guide you in your actions. Always be calm, calculating, and courageous in your efforts

“You have been faced with a daunting task and the opportunity to define your legacy as the whole world awaits you to be fair, impartial and fair in judging matters. Don’t let them down, ” he said.
