Ekiti State government has said that it will teach primary school pupils on the state-owned radio station, Ekiti FM 91.5.
In a statement made on Sunday by the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Francisca Aladejana, the programme, tagged “School on Air” will be broadcast in 30-minute on daily basis between 3.10 pm and 4.00 pm.
According to Aladejana, the initiative is part of government efforts to cushion the effect of the disruption in school activities on academic calendar following the outbreak of the Corona Virus.
She said the Kayode Fayemi administration was set to ensure that primary school pupils in Ekiti State would on each weekday be taught one subject out of English Language, Yoruba, Basic Science, Civic Education and National Values as well as Mathematics.
The programme promises to be interactive, as there would be a phone-in segment at the end of each edition to allow for questions and answers on the topic of the day as well as to facilitate proper appraisal of its reach and impact.
Aladejana urged parents and guardians in the state to take advantage of the new initiative of the government by ensuring active participation of their children and wards in the programme.
