Man arrested for disguising as ghost to scam, communicate with victims in Adamawa

Police detained 49-year-old Muhammad Abubakar for impersonating a ghost in order to scam unsuspecting members of the public.

 

Abubakar, who was suspected of being a serial fraudster, allegedly utilized the tactic to swindle other people. He is claimed to have perfected the technique of twisting his tongue to produce various noises.

According to Adamawa State Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, he was detained on February 5, 2024, after cheating one Abba Bale of N300,000.

“Adamawa State Police Command on 5/2/2024 arrested a 59-year-old man for frequently defrauding members of the public.

“The suspect Muhammad Abubakar, aka Malam Sabo is said to be a habitual 419 who specializes in defrauding members of the public in a disguised manner.

 

“Mostly, the suspect hides his identity pretending to be a ghost talking to his victims with different voices.

 

“The suspect, at times changes his voice sound to that of a woman or child to dupe his victims. Recently he tricked and duped one Abba Bale of Demsawo the sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000),” Nguroje said.

 

Nguroje said Abubakar would be charged in court after the completion of the police investigation.
