Man Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon In Attempt To Avoid Police Arrest

A man simply identified as Azeez has reportedly jumped into the lagoon in Lagos while attempting to avoid Police arrest after being accused of stealing some cement sacks.

 

Speaking on the development, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said  the director in charge of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA) in Lagos Central, reported the incidence to the Ikoyi Police Division on Friday at approximately 12.20 p.m.

According to him, the director reported that about 10.45 a.m. on Friday, he received a call reporting an incident at the Lekki/Ikoyi Link Bridge.

He added that when he arrived at the scene, he found a large gathering by the waterside, observing the motionless body of a drowned man.

“The deceased was later identified as Azeez. He was later confirmed dead by paramedics of Pre Hospital Care, Lagos.

 

“It was discovered that one Elijah Amos, a seller of the cement, was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the lagoon, because he was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement,” Hundeyin said.

 

He revealed that the scene was visited by the police, while the corpse was transferred to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for autopsy and preservation.
