A large number of senators have vowed to override the veto of  President Muhammadu Buhari on the Electoral Act amendment bill. This is just as The PUNCH learnt that Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, had begun making moves to prevent the embarrassment of the President.


According to The Guardian, the Senate has extended implementation of the 2021 budget to March 31, 2022. The resolution at plenary, presided over by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, is to ensure execution of developmental projects across the federation.

Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, on Tuesday said there was nothing like repen­tant bandits, noting that the only repentant bandit is the one that is dead, Daily Independent reports.

According to Tribune, Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to reopen the murder case of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige. Ige was shot dead in his home in Ibadan, Oyo State, on December 23, 2001 at the age of 71


Senators may today draw battlelines with President Muhammadu Buhari over the veto of the Electoral Amendment Bill 2021. Majority of them want to press for the overriding of the president’s veto, in exercise of the National Assembly’s power to overrule the president on passed bills, Daily Sun reports.
