In a statement issued on Friday, ISEC accused the management of unilaterally suspending the election without following due process or respecting the autonomy of the Students Electoral body.

According to the statement, the management’s actions undermine the principles of democracy and student representation that ISEC was established to uphold.

ISEC has urged students to remain calm and vigilant during this situation and has assured that it remains committed to advocating for transparency, fairness, and student involvement in the electoral process.

In a memo signed by the Institution’s Registrar, Abiodun Oloyede, the management stated that the suspension was due to a petition submitted against one of the aspirants in the 2024 Students’ Union election and a security threat to the election process, which may lead to violence. The management is currently reviewing the petition to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process and will communicate the revised election schedule as soon as possible.
