Professor Kolo takes over as Crawford’s VC

A formal handing over ceremony has been conducted for the new Vice Chancellor of Crawford University, Professor Reuben Jiya Kolo.

This ceremony, according to a statement by the Igbesa, Ogun State’s faith-based tertiary institution,  brought to an end the five-year administration of Professor Isaac Ajayi as the institution’s VC.

The ceremony held both virtually and physically simultaneously at the Legacy Hall of the institution, was attended by dons, administrators and officials of the Apostolic Faith Church, the owners of the institution.

The ceremony also witnessed the formal opening of the new hall project which the outgoing VC initiated and completed.

Ajayi commended the university community for the superlative cooperation he was accorded throughout his tenure, while urging them to extend the same to the incoming VC.

He also charged Professor Kolo to rise to the challenge of taking the University to the next level.

The new vice chancellor urged the University community to cue into the vision of the new administration.

He said, “We have made our vision plain upon tables for everyone to see it, know it and run with it. So, ours is a focused race with a goal in mind. Thus, I urge every one of us that we must keep all distractions at bay so that we can succeed together.”

Professor Kolo was born in Doko, Lavun Local Government, Niger State in 1962. He obtained his first degree from Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria in Zoology, 1987 and bagged his second degree, M.Sc, Hydrobiology and Fisheries, from the University of Ibadan. He completed his doctoral studies in FUT, Minna in the same discipline in 1996.

Professor Kolo joined the service of FUT, Minna on July 11, 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology, SAAT. He became a Professor of Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology in October, 2010. Professor Kolo has held many positions of responsibilities in the span of his engagement in FUT, Minna.

He was designated the Dean of his faculty, the SAAT from 2015 to 2019. He was also the Deputy Dean of the institution’s Postgraduate School between 2012 and 2013. He had headed specialized departments, centres, committees and special projects.

He is a revered member of the Agricultural Society of Nigeria, National Association of Fish Farmers and Aquaculturists, the Fisheries Society of Nigeria amongst others. He is widely published and listened to in specialized journals and conferences.
