Reactions As US Pres., Joe Biden Increases Minimum Wage Of American Workers To $15/N6,750 Per Hour

The 46th President of the United States of America, Joe Biden has been reported to have increased the minimum wage of workers in the US to 15 dollars per hour.

The report was portrayed by the Punch Newspapers with the headline, “Biden raises minimum wage to $15/N6,750 per hour – Punch Newspapers “.

Judging from the parallel exchange rate for dollar which is N450, the $15 is equivalent to six thousand, seven hundred and fifty Naira (N6,750). According to the details of the report in the official website of Punch Newspapers, Joe Biden made the call yesterday (Tuesday, 27th April 2021) on Twitter, to inform the American citizens of the latest development.

Furthermore, the report unveiled that, the increment is for workers who are under American Federal working contract, as Joe Biden believes that, it was unjust for workers to work full time and still be fighting on how to live above the poverty level.

Meanwhile, recall that Nigeria also in a similar vein increased the minimum wage of her workers in 2019 from N18,000 to N30,000. While that of America as disclosed by Joe Biden is N6,750 per hour, the N30,000 is tied to the MONTHLY payment.

After the tweet containing the information of Joe Biden’s action was made, Nigerians, having mentally carried out a comparative analysis between the two countries, seized the opportunity to drop their thoughts.
