Secondary school pupil stabs schoolmate over cultism

A secondary school pupil on Thursday stabbed his schoolmate in Government Secondary School State Housing, Calabar, Cross River State.

The student allegedly stabbed his fellow student over cultism. The incident occurred during school hours as the suspect brought out an axe and cut his fellow student on the head. The victim, who narrowly escaped death, was said to be a rival cult member.

Before attempting to flee, the suspected student was apprehended and handed over to the men of the Anti-cultism Unit of the State Police Command in Calabar.

Mr Castro Ezama, the Special Adviser on Education to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Mr. Castro Ezama, ordered that the suspect and other students involved in the act be handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Ezema said this on his visit to the school, adding that the present administration will not condone an act of cultism and any form of antisocial behavior in the State’s school system.
