Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two armed robbery suspects at Olambe area of Akute, in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects; Lukman Olanrewaju 27, and Shola Alabi 28, were reportedly arrested on Sunday, following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Ajuwon divisional headquarters, SP Andrew Akinseye.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Oyeyemi said the distress call was received on the robbery incident at about 5pm on Sunday.
According to him, the police were told that a three-man armed robbery gang was operating at Olambe area, and that they have shot one commercial motorcyclist who was later identified as Anas Usman and snatched his motorcycle.
He said, “Upon the distress call, the DPO led his men to the scene, and with collaboration of the So-Safe Corps, two amongst the robbers were subsequently arrested.
“Recovered from them are, one-cut-to size locally made gun, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle.
“The victim was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, while effort is on top gear to apprehend the remaining member of the gang.”
The PPRO, however, said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
