A young trader named Chibueze Morris Nwabuez, who left school to sell various food items to support his family has been given a chance to prove himself. He has been awarded a full scholarship that will enable him to finish high school and continue his education.
Morris won the Godswill Nwankwo Foundation Scholarship after he went viral on social media with his extraordinary marketing skills. Godswill Nwankwo Foundation is a United States-based nonprofit, non-governmental organization (NGO) with a branch in Nigeria.
Narrating his story to the Guardian, Morris said his story began when his family faced the harsh reality of hired assassins claiming the life of his father. He said the aftermath of the tragedy forced his family to relocate to Abia State., Nigeria.
Not long after, Morris’s mother suffered a stroke, and could no longer work, leaving him as the primary breadwinner which left him no choice but to drop out of school. He then decided to start the journey of selling fruits, crayfish, and items on the streets to sustain his family.
However, Morris’s story took an unexpected turn when he went viral on social media for his extraordinary marketing skills. Despite the challenges he faced, Morris became known as the “Extraordinary Marketer” for his unique and appealing manner of selling his wares.
Morris’s marketing strategies, together with his optimistic and charming approach, won over the hearts of those who watched his videos on various social media channels. From there, his story reached the ears of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Godswill Nwankwo Foundation.
He was then selected as the recipient of the Godswill Nwankwo Foundation Scholarship Program (GNFSP) and was awarded a full scholarship to cover his educational expenses, complete high school, and take him through the university.
