Despite the decision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Muhammad Adamu, to dissolve the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigerian youth clamouring for the disbandment of the squad have remained on the streets.
Adamu, had on Sunday announced the dissolution of the police formation, following the nationwide #EndSARS protest.
However, the protesters insisted that they would not end their protest until their demands were met.
According to them, the IGP could not be trusted as the police had issued similar directives in the past.

The IG had stated that all officers in the disbanded unit will be redeployed to other formations and units; and that a new policing arrangement for tackling violent offences will be unveiled to the public.
However, as at yesterday night, the youths had taken over some roads including the Lekki-Ajah Road promising to continue their protest on Monday.
Meanwhile Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State have said the youths have a right to make demands on government even as they commended the IG for yielding to the youths’ demand.
