A socio-political activist, Reno Omokri has said the newly unveiled Naira notes were redesigned for economic and security reasons and not for beauty.
He also said that the Dollar is powerful because of its value and not beauty.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, launched the redesigned Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria,
CBN.
It was reported that mixed reactions have trailed the unveiling, with many showing dissatisfaction with the new Naira notes’ appearance, while some have taken to social media to make jokes with them.
However, Omokri has come out to criticize those who had shown dissatisfaction with the appearance of the Naira notes.
Taking to his verified Twitter handle, he wrote, “The Naira was not redesigned for beauty. It was redesigned for economic and security reasons. And it achieved exactly that. Naira appreciated. Bandits were flummoxed. The dollar is powerful, but not beautiful. Emefiele and the CBN board deserve kudos, not hubris!”
